Fifty years of marriage blossomed from taking things one day at a time. It was a humble beginning that started with love at first sight in Atta, Imo State, Nigeria.
We got married on October 11th, 1976 in Edinboro, Pennsylvania, though to us it seems like it was yesterday. It took courage and determination to take those giant steps at such a young age. It was scary; we did not know what to do with each other. We weren't even sure we knew what love was. But we refused to give up on each other. And as we learned how to love each other, our marriage grew stronger and sweeter with each passing day. We became two hearts that beat as one.
We mapped and discussed our future endeavors, our ambitions. We navigated all difficulties life presented together, with joy and happiness. Life took us from Nigeria to Edinboro to Philadelphia to Laurel Springs, New Jersey to Waxhaw, North Carolina, and places in between. Along the way, we decided to have a family. God blessed us with five beautiful children (three boys and two girls), a son-in-law and a grandson. As God would have it, they are all doing very well. Today, Goddy has retired after working forty-one years as an Industrial Chemical Engineer in Research and Development. Anne continues to work as a Finance Professional.
Our Golden Anniversary is a celebration of enduring love, partnership, care, and commitment; and, it is the embodiment of our souls as one. Unity and love reign supreme, as it has always been in our fifty-year journey.
We were Blessed and continued to be Blessed. Thanks to the Almighty Father who is all the time in our midst and made our journey possible from then until now and forever. To Him, we give the Glory.
